Sad News – Stella Bichler z’l

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Stella Bichler z’l, step-grandmother of Beth Israel member Gali Bar, on 3 Tevet 5782 (December 7th, 2021).

Stella was born in Yoguslavia and lived in Germany. When persecution of the Jewish people began the family attempted to escape, but was caught and Stella was sent to Auschwitz with her sister Ruth.

They were the only survivors of their family. Stella made Aliyah in 1948 with her husband Slavko (Shmuel) and two step children Aaron and Boris (Moshe), and settled in Ramla where she worked as a home economics teacher.

She had a son, David, and remained in her home until very recently.Stella has been a strong, resilient women and participated in Steven Spielberg’s Shoah project to ensure her harrowing experience and the memory of her family are not forgotten.Stella was predeceased by her husband Slavko, her sister Ruth, and her sons Aaron and Moshe.

She is survived by her son David, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The funeral took place in Stella’s hometown of Ramla.
