Sad News – Ruth Ann Korman z’l

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Ruth Ann Korman (nee Grad) z”l, Rivka bat Fagel, mother of our member Sheila Sontz.

Ruth passed away Thursday October 26, 2023 in her home in Thornhill, Ontario.

Our condolences to her sisters Hilda and Marilyn Grad of Toronto and to her children Susan Bernstein, Michael Korman, Randee Korman, and Sheila Sontz and to her grandchildren Shaun Bernstein, Alexis Orchard, Jonathan Korman, Jennifer Korman, and Sara and Maya Sontz. And to her loving caregivers Melona and May to whom the family is incredibly grateful.

Ruth was insightful and generous almost to a fault. She was born in Toronto on August 5, 1934, to very poor parents and had to leave high school to go to work to help feed the family. She married Abraham Morris Korman in 1958 and together built their family in Timmins, Ontario and their dairy business too which eventually became a major well-known one across southern Ontario.

The funeral took place Sunday, October 29th at 2 p.m. (EST) at Pardes Shalom Cemetery in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Shiva will take place from Sunday to Wednesday in Thornhill, Ontario.
