Sad News – Richard Paul Kaplan z’l
It is with deep sadness we inform you of the passing of Richard Paul Kaplan z’l of St. Petersburg, Florida, brother of Or Shalom member, Charles Kaplan on February 27, 2023.
Rick was an avid reader and a great conversationalist with an offbeat sense of humor. He put his love of science and gadgets to work in his profession as an electronics repair artist. Rick enjoyed being an uncle—giving gifts to his nieces and nephews, connecting them with family history, and teaching them about coins.
Predeceased by his mother Barbara Lieberman and his brother Lee Kaplan, Rick is mourned by his father Ivan Kaplan (Sharon Kaplan); brothers Charles Kaplan (Rabbi Laura Duhan-Kaplan), David Kaplan (Gail Wegodsky), and Jason Samreny; sisters-in-law Christine Kaplan and Beth Samreny; nephews Michael Kaplan, Gregory Kaplan, Eli Kaplan, and Justin Samreny; nieces Michelle Swansegar and Hillary Kaplan; grandniece Emma Kaplan.
The family will hold a private service.
