Sad News – Rabbi Sidney David Shanken z’l

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Rabbi Sidney David Shanken, z”l, grandfather of the CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, Ezra Shanken, on September 16, 2020 in Floridaat the age of 98.

We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Gloria Shanken, children, Zev Shanken (Leslie) and Levia Shanken, grandchildren, Ezra Shanken (Rachel) and Miriam Shanken, and great-grandchildren,Elie, Maten, and Lior.

A graveside funeral will be held on Friday September 18, 2020 at 12:15 pm in Boynton Beach, FL.
Due to Friday being Erev Rosh Hashanah and due to COVID-19 precautions, details concerning shiva, minyan and other traditional customs of mourning will be provided shortly.

Tributes can be made to the  Federation’s COVID-19 Recovery Fund.
