Sad News – Diana Stringer z’l

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Diana on July 6, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Cherished wife of Brad Stringer, stepmother to Jade and Skyler Stringer; beloved daughter of Dr. Robert and the Rev’d. Helen Hill; sister of Lisanne Hill (Rob Dowler) and Rob Hill; aunt of Sarah and Robbie Dowler;

daughter-in-law of Barbara Stringer; sister-in-law of Sari Dennis (Tony) and aunt of Rachel Dennis. Diana graduated from York House School and the University of British Columbia (B.Ed).

Soon after, she moved to Tokyo where she taught adult English classes for a year and a half. She subsequently earned a certificate in teaching the deaf from UBC but missed Japan so returned there to teach and do human resources work for the school. After six years, she came home to Vancouver and BCIT for more human resources training.

Diana spent the last 13 years at Greater Vancouver Community Services Society as Director of Home Support Services. Diana spent her childhood years skiing and sailing the BC coast with friends and family. As an adult, she travelled extensively, making longterm friends everywhere she went.

Diana found joy on the ballroom dance floor and numerous weekends at Whistler with Brad. She also took great pride in her parenting role and had a profound influence on her stepchildren Jade and Skyler.

The family wishes to thank all the people at St. Paul’s Palliative Care who did so much to make Diana’s last days as comfortable as possible.

Diana will be terribly missed by all of her family and her many friends. Funeral to be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 690 Burrard Street, Vancouver, on Saturday, July 14 at 2 p.m.
