Sad New – Alisa Anne Polsky z’l

With sorrow, I am writing to inform you that our dear friend, Alisa Anne Polsky, Eliza Hanna bat Avraham v’Aharona, died on Sunday, June 12, 2022, 14 Sivan, 5782. Alisa was a long-time beloved member of Or Shalom and cherished sister of Rabbi Susan Shamash (Yom), Sandra and Elliot (Pamela) Polsky, devoted aunt of Aarona Polsky, and dear former sister-in-law of Kate MacColl.

Alisa loved Or Shalom and the Or Shalom community. She was also active in many Inclusion Services programs at the Jewish Community Centre, including the Bagel Club, the Art Hive, the Theatre Lab, and the Community Kitchen, as well as the Waterworks Program and the Waldman Library. The JCC was her second home. She most especially loved living in the Robson Park Housing Co-Op for the past 20 years.

May Alisa’s memory be for a blessing. I know that you will reach out to Alisa’s family in friendship and with support.

The funeral is tentatively planned for Wednesday, June 15 at the Or Shalom Bayit, 710 East 10th Avenue, Vancouver, followed by interment at the Or Shalom Cemetery at 33rd Avenue and Fraser Street, Vancouver. Details will be published in an amendment to this Doar as will shiva gatherings.

Hamakom yenachem etchem b’toch shaar avlei Tzion v’Yerushalayim – may the mourners be comforted together with the all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
