Yom Yerushalayim message from Shaare Zedek Hospital

ANI OD CHAI – WE ARE STILL ALIVE
WESTERN CANADA EXECUTIVE

Shalom Chaverim,

As Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) approaches, we celebrate our extraordinary hospital Shaare Zedek Medical Center, situated in the heart of Jerusalem. For over 122 years, Shaare Zedek has revolutionized healthcare in Jerusalem. It has become a symbol of tolerance and cultural diversity, with Jewish, Christian, and Muslim doctors and staff working together. Shaare Zedek is also a symbol of Jewish continuity, particularly through its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which delivers around 22,000 newborns each year.

As Jerusalem’s largest Level I Trauma Center, Shaare Zedek leads the way in pioneering treatments and scientific advancements. Recently, during the October 7th War, Shaare Zedek demonstrated its unwavering commitment by mobilizing resources, utilizing its helipad for the first time in decades, treating over 700 wounded IDF soldiers, and extending care to displaced families from the Southern and Northern regions

From its humble beginnings as a 20-bed facility on Jaffa Street, it has transformed into an incredible, multi-site medical center, continuously expanding and evolving. Today, the hospital boasts over 1,000 inpatient beds and serves one million patients annually. An integral part of the Jerusalem landscape, Shaare Zedek’s greatest legacy is its irreplaceable role in caring for the people of Jerusalem and beyond.
