Vancouver’s Moishe House

On the last Shabbat of the summer months, Yossi and I joined over 40 young adults celebrating a fantastic Shabbat happening at Vancouver’s Moishe House, the first one in Canada!

I knew very little about the Moishe House initiative other than that our daughter Shani’s boyfriend lived there over 2 years ago.  After experiencing Shabbat in our very own Moishe House I felt wonder and gratitude that this type of housing/programming exists.  Moishe Houses across North America allow for young Jewish adults to congregate, appreciate and celebrate programs together.

Presently there are 4 residents living in the house which has 6 bedrooms in total.  Yossi and I were the age of many of the participants’ parents.  It was evident that our chronological age did not stop of us from feeling welcome and feeling the joy of celebrating our collective and diverse Jewish heritage. It is a source of pride that our Jewish heritage continues to be shared in homes like the Moishe House for Jewish young adults.

Yasher Koach to Moishe House’s residents/hosts par excellence: Ben, Stephanie, Marlon and Kalman.
