It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Temple Sholom member Dr. Desmond Berghofer on October 17, 2025.

 

We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Dr. Geraldine Schwartz, children, Sarah (Andrew), Katie (Darryl), Charlotte (Tavis), stepchildren, Judy (Barry) and Steve (Ann), grandchildren, Bea, Will, Julya, Layla, Dylan, Victoria and Elizabeth, step grandchildren, Jamie (Anna), Haley, Geoffrey, Chantelle and Justin, step great-grandchild, Sammy, and to his entire family and friends.

 

A funeral was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 10:00 am at Temple Sholom Synagogue (7190 Oak St, Vancouver), followed by interment at the Temple Sholom Cemetery (14965 – 28th Ave., White Rock/South Surrey, BC).

 

A reception followed at Temple Sholom Synagogue, beginning at approximately 1:00 pm.
