It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Elliot Rank z’l Yehuda Aryeh ben Simcah v’Hannah
brother of Jacqueline (Jackie) Sadoff, uncle of Ross (Rabbi Susie Tendler) and an amazing great-uncle to Hannah Sofia and Ella.
The funeral will be held Monday, December 1 in Baltimore with burial to follow in Philadelphia.
Many of you had the opportunity to meet Elliot when he and Rena joined the Beth Tikvah trip in Israel a few years ago, at our family smachot, or Shabbatot when they would visit. A biochemist by trade, a cantor by passion, he loved continual learning (think pickling, making corned beef), family journeys, and most of all family.
While Elliot was the family historian and loved genealogy, he treasured and valued family gathering together. He made a point to always show up for everything and really spend time with people present.
While doing so with younger generations, he would make the time meaningful, instilling values that he hoped would continue to shape and guide their lives. He loved to take trips with Rena and Jackie and Hal, with two of the latest adventures happening with Ross by train.

The prophet Micah shares how we are meant to live in this world, saying, “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Elliot lived these words.
May Elliot’s memory be for a blessing.
