Featuring Ambassador Ron Prosor and Comedian Elon Gold
The Jewish National Fund of Canada Pacific Region will hold its 2019 Negev Gala on Sunday, April 14th 2019 at Congregation Schara Tzedeck, and will feature Ambassador Ron Prosor as keynote speaker followed by world renowned comedian, Elon Gold. Ambassador Prosor, who served as Israel’s 16th Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2011 – 2015, will provide insights regarding Israel at the United Nations – A Country Against All Odds.
The evening will start with a Gold Plate Gala in which the Honourary Chairs Ralph Markin and Bob Markin will be acknowledged for their longtime support of Israel, JNF and numerous other community organizations.
Bernice Carmeli, JNF Canada, Pacific Region President said: “This year’s event is very special as it will bring the community together to hear a keynote speaker whose long familiarity with the UN makes him uniquely qualified to talk about the inner workings of the UN and its approach to the State of Israel. We will also enjoy world renowned comedian, Elon Gold, whose viral videos have people falling out of their chairs laughing. We are also very proud to have Ralph Markin and Bob Markin as honourary chairs and acknowledge their longtime contribution to our community. This year’s Negev Gala proceeds will go toward those who are under constant threat from rocket and mortar attacks in the Southern part of Israel.”
Proceeds from the event will be directed to assisting the residents of the city of Sderot and the surrounding area who have endured rocket attacks from Gaza for many years. JNF Canada, Pacific Region, in cooperation with the Sderot Municipality, is planning to establish an extensive therapeutic courtyard which includes a petting zoo on the grounds of the Sderot Animal-Assisted Therapy Centre.
Ambassador Prosor is the head of the Abba Eban Institute of International Diplomacy at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC). Elon Gold is a comedian and actor with an extensive filmography both as a writer and a performer. His stand up special on Netflix received wide acclaim from audiences and peers alike.
For years, the Jewish National Fund of Canada has served as the caretaker of the land of Israel, by planting trees, building water reservoirs, preserving natural habitats, and building parks and bicycle trails.
